THE MORAL VALUES IN THOMAS B. MORGENSTERN “DIE ORANGEN-DIEBE”

Abstract

This research aims at describing: (1) the moral values, (2) the implementation of the moral values in Thomas B. Morgenstern Die Orangen-Diebe. The data resources ware taken from roman children of Die Orangen-Diebe by Thomas B. Morgenstern published by Hannah Verlag on 1998 in Germany. The research is qualitative descriptive research using objective approach. The data is obtained with reading and noticing. The data validation were collected by semantic validation and expert judgement. The research uses inter-rater and intra-rater reliability. The finding show that, (1) the moral values in children’s roman Die Orangen-Diebe consist of, (a) relationships between people with themselves are doubt, worry, fear and regret. (b) Relations with fellow human beings: courtesy, gratitude, compassion, apologizing and keeping the promise. (c) The relationships between people with the environment is gardening. (2) The implementation of moral values is direct and indirect. The implementation of moral values directly more dominate than the implementation of moral values indirectly.
