THE LANGUAGE STYLE OF THE POLITIC COLUMNS IN THE ONLINE NEWS OF SPIEGEL.DE

Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the style of language and (2) the function of language discourse political news on Spiegel.de. The type of this research is  a descriptive qualitative. The source of this research is  obtained from the online news section Spiegel.de with the period from October 2016 to March 2017. The research data is lingual unit in the form of words, phrases and sentences contained in the German political news collected by reading and writing techniques. Data analysis using equivalent referential method. To determine the validity of the data result of data research used the validity of interater and intrarater. The results of this study indicate that there are 62 data is devided into (1) ten categories of language styles. The data consisting of repetition language style, asynchronous language style, rhetorical style of language, hyperbolic language styles, simile language style, metaphorical language style, language styles personification, language style of sinekdoke, metonic language styles, and language style of irony. There are 1 data of repetition language style, 1 data of asynchronous language style, 5 data of rhetorical style of language, 18 data of hyperbolic language styles, 1 data of simile language style, 11 data of metaphorical language style, 7 data of language styles personification, 6 data of sinekdoke language style, 19 data of metonic language styles, and 5 data of irony language style; (2) the four language functions used in the language of German political news, namely referential functions, emotive functions, conative functions and poeticfunctions.
