THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SOMATIC, AUDITORY, VISUAL, INTELLEKTUAL (SAVI) APPROACH FOR THE LEARNING OF THE GERMAN VOCABULARY OF SMA NEGERI 1 MINGGIR OF SLEMAN

Abstract
This research aimed to find out (1) the difference of students’ accomplishment in the learning of German vocabulary of SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Slemanbetween the class that was taught by SAVI approach and the class that was taught by the conventional approach; (2) the effectiveness of the SAVI approach for the learning of German vocabulary.This research was a quasi experimentresearch. The data were collected through German vocabulary comprehension’s scores of pre-test and post-test. The population of this research were all grade twelfth’s students of SMA Negeri 1Minggir Sleman. The sample-taking-techniquewas the simple random sampling. This research had two variables, which were SAVI approach as the free variable and the learning of German vocabulary as the tied variable. The validity tests were content validity and construct validity. The result of the research showed that the tratewas bigger (3,609) as the ttable(2,000) and the significance rate was α = 0,05.This showed a significantdifference in the learning accomplishment between the experiment class and the control class.The effectiveness rate was 6,39%. The final average score of the experiment class was bigger (32,26) as the control class (30,61). So it is concluded that SAVI approach was effective in the learning of German vocabulary.
