THE GERMAN IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS WITH THE FIGURATIVE ELEMENT OF EYES AND THEIR INDONESIAN EQUIVALENTS

Abstract

This research aimed at describing 1) the similarities and differences of the figurative element of eyes between German idiomatic expressions and Indonesia idiomatic expressions , 2) the cultural element which the background of the similarities and differences in the use the figurative element of eyes between German idiomatic expressions and Indonesia idiomatic expressions. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research. Data were analyzed using padan referensial method. The results of this study are 1) there are similarities and differences of figurative element of eyes between German idiomatic expressions and Indonesia idiomatic expressions. The similarities of the figurative element of eyes between the German idiomatic expressions and the Indonesian idiomatic expressions is divided into two parts, namely the direct equation similarities of the figurative element of eyes between the German idiomatic expressions and the Indonesian idiomatic expressions is four data and indirect equations similarities of figurative element of eyes between the German idiomatic expressions and the Indonesia idiomatic expressions is six data. The difference of the figurative element of eyes between the German idiomatic expressions and the Indonesian idiomatic expressions is eleven data. 2) Cultural elements which the background of the similarities and differences in the use of figurative element of eyes between the German idiomatic expressions and the Indonesian idiomatic expressions is three, namely the mindset, race and eating and drinking habits.
