PHILOLOGY STUDIES AND DEMONSTRATIONS TO EXTEND AGE IN SȆRAT YUSWÅ WIDÅDÅ
Abstract
The purpose of this study is divided into five stages, (1) explaining the script description and SYW text, (2) making over writing the SYW text, (3) making edits to the SYW text, (4) making a translation of the SYW text, (5) explaining the guidelines for extending age in the SYW text. This SYW text research uses modern philology research methods and descriptive research methods. The source of this research data is the SYW manuscript collection of Dewantara Kirti Griya Yogyakarta Museum Library with the collection number Bb. 1,259. Ways to collect data using phylological research steps, namely manuscript inventory, script and text descriptions, text writing, text edits, text translations, and text analysis. This research uses two validiy and reliabilies such as semantic validity, interrater reliability, and intrarater reliability. These are the results of five SYW text research stages. First, the results of the script description and SYW text are that the state of the script is still good, can still be read, and the text is written using Javanese letters in printed form. Secondly, the result of overwriting the SYW text is using transcription and transliteration methods. The results of the transcription itself, are made the same as the text being studied, because the letter form is the same as the other printed text. In addition, found the writing of Javanese letters in the form of squares or elbows. While the results of the transliteration which then go to the third stage, namely text edits, found two words that need to be edited. Fourth, the results of the translation of the SYW text were found in 29 words and sentences which were then included in the translation notes. For the fifth stage in the form of an analysis of the contents of the SYW text about guidelines for extending life, found 6 guidelines. Four of them are conditions, while the other two are Javanese calculations. These four conditions are in the form of a ban for many desires; prohibition to easily like or cheat; prohibition to arbitrarily, lie, or even betray the trust of a partner; and prohibition to marry a woman who is not suitable. This long life science guide can be used in human life today.
