PENGARUH PERGAULAN TEMAN SEBAYA DAN PERHATIAN ORANG TUA TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR IPS SISWA DI SMP N 4 SLEMAN

Abstract


This study aims at finding out: (1) the effect of peer companionship on the Social Studies learning achievement, (2) the effect of parents’ attention on the Social Studies learning achievement, and (3) the effect of peer companionship and parents’ attention as an aggregate on the Social Studies learning achievement of students of SMPN 4 Sleman. This was a correlational study using the quantitative approach. The research population comprised students of SMP Negeri 4 Slernan with a total of 347 students. The sample, consisting of 182 students, was selected by means of the proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected by a questionnaire and documentation. The instrument validity was assessed by expert judgment and the reliability by the split-half technique. The analysis assumption tests were tests of normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity. The hypothesis testing used simple and multiple linear regression. The results of the study are as follows. (1) There is a significant positive effect of peer companionship on the Social Studies learning achievement. In other words, the higher the peer companionship is, the higher the Social Studies learning achievement is. (2) There is a significant positive effect of parents’ attention on the Social Studies learning achievement. In other words, the higher the parents’ attention is, the higher the Social Studies learning achievement is. (3) There is a significant positive effect of peer companionship and parents’ attention as an aggregate on the Social Studies learning achievement of students of SMPN 4 Sleman. In other words, the higher the peer companionship and parents’ attention are as an aggregate, the higher the Social Studies learning achievement is. Therefore, peer companionship and parents’ attention should be taken into account by educational institutions.
