“ENGLISH JUNIOR” APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT BASED ON ANDROID SMARTPHONE AS AN EFFORT TO FACILITATE ENGLISH LEARNING IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract


This research is aimed to develop “English Junior” application based on Android smartphone as an effort to facilitate English learning in Junior High School and test the application to be able to know its feasibility. The method used by this study is Research and Development with software development life cycle approach. The development procedure refers to the Waterfall Model consisting of the feasibility study and requirements analysis, design, implementation (coding and integration) and testing. The subjects of this research are “English Junior” application and its users from among English teachers and students in Junior High School. Data of requirements, design, implementation, and alpha test are collected through observation, while beta test data is collected through interview with user. Data analysis was done by descriptive analysis. This research produces: (1) “English Junior” application based on Android smartphone and (2) the application’s eligibility value is 88.47 in which very feasible to use category.
