Abstract

Abstract

This research aims at knowing the effect of positive reinforcement to motivation of social studies, negative reinforcement to motivation of social studies, positive and negative reinforcement to motivation of social studies. This research used an ex-post facto method. The population in this research were fifth grade students in Abimanyu Cluster with total 218 students and sample total 141 students. Data were collected by using likert scale. This instrument was tested to 41 students. The validity using expert judgement technique, the validity of item determined by using coefficient correlation of total item corrected, and reliability using cronbach alpha formula. The analysis techniques that had been used were the normality test, the linearity test, and multicolinearity test. Data analysis used partial correlation test, multiple correlation test, and multiple regression analysis technique. The result shows that positive reinforcement take effect to motivation of social studies with contribution 9,73%; negative reinforcement take effect to motivation of social studies with contribution 43,37%; positive and negative reinforcement take effect to motivation of social studies with contribution 53,1%.

Keywords: positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, motivation of social studies.
