Abstract
This study aims to analyze the characteristics of simple harmonic motion in a mathematical pendulum system using a mechanics kit through a Cookbook-based practicum approach. The problems identified in the mechanics practicum learning are the low accuracy of students in measuring the pendulum period and the lack of understanding of the relationship between the length of the rope and the oscillation period. By using a quantitative-descriptive approach, measurements were made at various rope length variations to enable the formation of a graph of the relationship between T2 and the length of the rope. The results show that the relationship between T2 and the length of the rope is linear, consistent with the theory of simple harmonic motion (Serway & Jewett, 2014). The acceleration of gravity obtained from the regression analysis has a relatively small error, so the use of the mechanical kit and the Cookbook practicum module is effective in improving the quality of student experiments.
