Abstract

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate: 1) the produce the video storytelling to assist mathematic learning in Grade VII for the topic of linear equation in one variable, and 2) the appropriateness of the video storytelling. This was a research and development study using Allesi & Trollip, consisting of three development steps, i.e.: (1) planning: determining needs and objectives, colleting resources, and producing ideas; (2) design: making the flowchart and storyboard and preparing the script; and (3) development: producing the video and audio, programming the materials, preparing the supporting components, evaluating, and revising. The validation was done by materials experts, media experts, and mathematic tentor. The developed media were tried to 6 students for the small-group tryout, and 12 students for the large-group tryout. The study was conducted at tutoring center Base Prolog Yogyakarta. The data were collected through interviews and a Likert-scale questionnaire with five options. The data were analyzed by the quantitative descriptive analysis technique using a score distribution and were converted into percentages of assessment scale categories. The results of the study showed that the video storytelling was appropriate as learning media. The evaluation by the materials expert showed a mean score of 4,23, which was good. The evaluation by the media expert showed a mean score of 3,85, which was very good. The respon by the tentor showed a mean score of 4,84, which was very good. The respon by the students in the small-group tryout showed a mean score of 4,01, which was very good. The evaluation by the students in the large-group tryout showed a mean score of 3,90, which was good.
