STUDI KOMPARASI SELF-CONCEPT SISWA LAKI-LAKI DAN PEREMPUAN YANG MENGIKUTI EKSTRAKURIKULER KARATE DI SEKOLAH DASAR WILAYAH KABUPATEN SLEMAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan self-concept siswa laki-laki dan perempuan yang mengikuti ekstrakurikuer karate di sekolah dasar wilayah Kabupaten Sleman. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala konsep diri. Uji validitas menggunakan validitas isi melalui expert judgement. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan 10 item dinyatakan gugur dan instrumen dinyatakan reliabel dengan koefisien 0,866. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik independent t-test. Hasil dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa tidak adaa perbedaan konsep diri antara siswa laki-laki dan perempuan yang mengikuti ekstrakurikuler karate di sekolah dasar wilayah Kabupaten Sleman. Selain itu ditemukan pula bahwa rata-rata hitung self-concept siswa perempuan lebih tinggi dari siswa laki-laki dan sebagian besar siswa masuk pada kategori “tinggi” (64,38%) dan 35,62% lainnya termasuk dalam kategori “sedang”.

Abstract
The aim of this research is to compare the self-concept between boys and girls who join the karate extracurricular in elementary school in Sleman district. This is research a quantitative research. The subjects in this study is an elementary school student who join the karate extracurricular from Lemkari (Lembaga Karate-do Indonesia) in Sleman district. The population of this study is 73 students from 7 elementary schools and all of the population became the research sample. This study use a self-concept scale. Test of validity using the content validity from expert judgement. There are 52 items of the scale before validity and reliability test. After validity test, there are 10 items that are not valid and this instrument is reliable with the coefisien is 0,866. The data analysis of this study is using the independent t-test. Results of this study indicate that there are no differences self-concept between male and female students who join karate extracurricular in elementary school in Sleman district. In addition, means of female student’s self-concept is higher than male students and most of the students included in “high” category (64,38%) and 35,62% others included in “middle” category.
