Abstract

This study aimed to determine: (1) the level of peer interaction of grade XI students of SMK N 2 Yogyakarta; (2) the level of internet usage of grade XI students of SMK N 2 Yogyakartal (3) the influence of peer intraction for internet usage of grade XI students of SMK N 2 Yogyakarta. This study used a quantitative approach with regression type. This research was conducted at SMK N 2 Yogyakarta in May 2016. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique with a number of 668 students. The instuments of collecting data were in the form of a scale of peer interaction and scale of intensity of using internet. Validity and reliability of the instrument were calculated using Cronbach Alpha formula. The data were analized using simple regression techniques. The results showed that students who interacted with peers which was categorized as “high” was 17% or 17 students, in “medium” category was 73% or the equivalent of 73 students, and low category as much as 10% or as many as 10 students. Students who had the intensity of internet usage with high category was 14% or the equivalent of 14 students, “medium” category was 67%, equivalent to 67 students, and low category was 19%, equivalent to 19 students. There was a significant relationship between peer interactions with the intensity of internet use in students grade XI of SMK N 2 Yogyakarta, so it can be interpreted that peer interactions predicted 64% of the internet usage intensity.
