Abstract


This study aims to improve student’s critical thinking skills by applying problem based learning model in basic programming subject class X TKJ SMK Negeri 2 Klaten. This study is a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were students of class X TKJ A amounting to 36 students. Research is done in two cycles and each cycle consists of two meetings. Data collection techniques using observation method and documentation. The observation method is by observation sheets of student’s critical thinking skills. The results showed that the application of problem based learning model in subject of basic programming can improve the critical thinking skills of students in each cycle. First cycle, the average percentage of student’s critical thinking skills was 48% and in the second cycle increased to 75%.
