Abstract

This study aimed to discover the influence of sociodrama learning method to student achievement and participation in civics grade VIII state junior high school 4 Mandiraja. This research was a quasi experiment research by a quantitative approach. This population research was students grade VIII. Sample taking technique used a Simple Random Sampling. VIII B’s class as experiment class used sociodrama learning method while VIII B’s class as control class used lecture learning method. The measurement device of sociodrama as learning method, were student participation questionnaire and achievement test. The instrument validity test used expert judgment and SPSS program. The media validation was done by media and content specialist. The media validation percentage 4,2 with proper official statement. Data analysis technique used independent sample t-test and gain score. The research result showed that: 1) sociodrama learning method influence to student’s achievement in civics. This was proven by analysis of Independent Sample T Test that showed t = 3,004. The experiment posttest average result was 71,96 and the control posttest average result was 61,87. The hypothesis testing showed that thitung > ttabel (3,004 >2,414). The Gain Score testing go into medium effectiveness level. The effectiveness score of experiment class 0,31 while control class showed 0,01. 2) sociodrama learning method influence to student’s participation in civics. This was proven by analysis of Independent Sample T Test that showed t = 4,463. The experiment posttest average result 51,39 and the control posttest average result 45,83. The hypothesis testing showed that thitung > ttabel (3,004 >2,414). The Gain Score testing goes into high effectiveness level. The effectiveness score of experiment class was 0,73 while control class showed 0,65.
