THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE LEARNING INTEREST AND THE LEARNING MOTIVATION ON LEARNING CIVICS OF THE STUDENTS IN SMA NEGERI 1 PRINGSURAT

This research was conducted to determine the correlation between the learning interest and the learning motivation on learning Civics of the students in SMA Negeri 1 Pringurat. Ex-postfacto type of research with quantitative approach. Purposive cluster random sampling techique. Sampel taken from class XI-science, social studies and language skill, 125 students. The validity test of both instruments using Pearson’s correlation formula of Product Moment with rcount >0,361. The reliability test of both instruments using Alpha Cronbach formula with a value of 0.954. The normality test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov formula and the liniearity test with the help of SPSS computer series 17.00. The survey results revealed: 1) There is a very significant correlation between the learning interest and the learning motivation on learning Civics of the students in SMA Negeri 1 Pringurat. Research test with rcount value of 0,783 greater than rtabel 0,783>0,176 and sig. 0.000 (0.000<0.01). 2) The mayority of the learning interest at the high category, 63 students (50.4%). 3) The students’ learning motivation at the high category, 51 students (40.8%) and the highest category, 51 students (40.8%).
