THE ROLE OF CIVIC EDUCATION TEACHERS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF DISCIPLINE CHARACTERS OF STUDENTS THROUGH AXEMPLARY APPROACH IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 2 TEMPEL
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study aims to knowing the role of civic education teachers in the development of the discipline characters of student through exemplary approach in junior high school 2 Tempel. This research is a descriptive research with qualitative approach. The subjects are civics education teachers, headmaster and students. Observation, interviews, and documentation are used to collect the data. Data were analyzed inductively whose steps include reduction data, presentation of data, and conclusions.Whereas triangulation technique is used to check the validity data. The results showed that : 1) the role of civic education teachers in the development the discipline characters of student through exemplary approach in junior high school 2 Tempel are provide corrections to students who are obedientless to the rules, motivate students during studying, provide facilities for students with comfort and tranquility while studying; become classroom managers by making agreements during class, evaluating students of the studying process and outcomes, and civics education teachers provide exemplary approach by coming on time, wearing neat uniforms, speaking with a good word and good attitude. 2) The obstacles are factors from students and factors from civics education teachers. 3) The overcoming these obstacles are providing educational punishment and provide exemplary to students to obey with school rules, as well as increasing cooperation among civics education teachers, communicate with counseling guidance teachers, and homeroom teacher.
