IMPLEMENTATION OF POLITICAL EDUCATION THROUGH PANCASILA AND CIVICS EDUCATION LEARNING IN SMP NEGERI 2 YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was to describe the implementation of Political Education through Pancasila and Civics Education Learning in SMP Negeri 2 Yogyakarta. This research was descriptive using qualitative approach. The sampling technique of this research used purposive technique, the data collecting techniques used interview, documentation, and observation. The research data validation used resource triangulation technique. The data analysis used Miles and Huberman model including data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research results showed: (1) The development of Political Education material was done in school curricula, they were Curriculum of 2013 (K13) and Curriculum of Educational Unit Level (KTSP), by giving various activities and assignments, such as visits, interview with public figure, election coverage activity, OSIS election activity, and school activities (flag ceremony, national anthem play, and workshop), (2) The learning methods used by Pancasila and Civics Education teachers were lecture, presentation, discussion, assignment, make a match, portfolio, mind mapping, creative tree, puzzle, clipping and modelling, (3) Obstacles in the implementation of Political Education through the learning of Pancasila and Civics Education included: a) facilities and infrastructure obstacles, such as the absence of the PPKn Laboratory and the limited handbook for learners, b) organizational obstacles, such as the limited forums and certain competitions for Pancasila and Civics Education, c) budget obstacles, such as the limited funding for visit activities, d) teacher obstacles, such as limited allocation time to implement various methods, and the difficulty in proposing an idea to school, e) learner obstacles, such as the differences of learner character and participation.
