Abstract

This study aims to identify the reason why people in Kampung Benda Kerep discharge duty to register marriages and to determine the consequences of unnoted marriage. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The research subject is determined using purposive technique, namelyPosyandu cadre of Kampung Benda Kerep, three Kampung Benda Kerep villagers that do not register their marriages, and lebe. This research data is collected through interview and documentation. The data analysis is done inductively by data reduction, data unitization/ categorization, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. In conclusion, this study can be stated that: (1) The reason people of Kampung Benda Kerep not register marriages are: a) not registering marriages is Benda Kerep people’s habit, b) marriage register is not so important, c) the lack of money to register marriage, d) ignorance of marriage register. (2) The consequences of unnoted marriage are: a) there is a mismatch of information in the Family Register, b) the father’s name is not written in their child’s Birth Certificate, c) the marriage status is not written in the Identity Card.
