THE EFFORTS OF NATURE BASED SCHOOL PUTRI TIJAH IN THE NATIONALITY CHARACTHER BUILDING OF AIR HITAM ANAK DALAM ETHNIC GROUP SOCIETY

Abstract

 This study is made from the research that aims to know the efforts of Putri Tijah Nature School (SAPT) in building the nationalism of Anak Dalam Air Hitam ethnic group, in other that also aimed to know SAPT’s problem. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach that took place in March to May 2016. The subjects is decided by purposive technique and snowball, those selected as the research subjects are the head of Community Development Officer (CDO) PT. Sari Aditya Loka 1; the coordinator of Community Development Officer PT. Sari Aditya Loka 1 in educational department; 2(two) teachers of Putri Tijah Nature School; a Tumenggung, the indigenous elder; and members of indigenous people whose children attend Putri Tijah Nature School. The data is collected through interview and documentation. Validity of the data taken is checked by cross-checking data. After that, the data is analyzed using analysis technique of inductive data which steps are: data reduction, categorization and data unification, data presentation, and conclusion making. The conclusion from the study shows that Putri Tijah Nature School has been attempting to build the nationalism of their students and there are problems in the school. Such efforts include: a) Creating a conducive learning atmosphere and neat room and clean through gotong royong, do flag ceremony, involving the students participate in various competitions; b) Building the attitude of the students by growing the discipline and self-confidence of students as well as teach the religious values; and c) Choose the material in the form of introducing the national anthem, teaches Indonesian national language through teaching and learning activities(TL activities), introduced the symbol of the country, as well as choosing the appropriate learning method. The problems in the school are there is no subject of nationalism character yet; the students are lazy or rarely go to school; the students are unable to read yet; and the low awareness of parents of students to support their children to school.
