Abstract

This study aimed to describe: 1) The role of civic education teacher to overcome school bullying problems in public junior high school throughout Berbah district; 2) The constraints faced by civic education teacher to overcome school bullying problems in public junior high school throughout Berbah district; 3) The efforts made to resolve constraints in mitigating school bullying in Public Junior High School throughout Berbah District. This type of research was descriptive with qualitative approach. The research subjects are civic education teacher. The location was in Public Junior High School throughout Berbah district consists of SMP Negeri 1 Berbah, SMP Negeri 2 Berbah, and SMP Negeri 3 Berbah. The technique for collecting data in this study used interviews and documentation. The technique to analyze data implemented inductive analysis. The Results of this research are: 1) Roles of civic education teacher to overcome school bullying problems in public junior high school throughout Berbah district as preventive roles such as a) informator; b) motivator; c) facilitator; d) adviser; e) class administrator and as repressive role such as a) Cut the score of civic education subject; b) Call students who implement school bullying; c) Hand over the students to BK (guidance and counselling) teacher. 2) The constraints faced by civic education teacher to overcome school bullying problems in public junior high school throughout Berbah district consist of internal problems such as the personal of teacher and external problems such as a) Students are still neglecting teacher’s advice about school bullying; b) Supporting facilities are not fully utilized by teachers; c) Some of students are still driving motorcycle to school; d) Lack of cooperation between civic education teacher and BK teacher; e) School rules have not been fully implemented. 3) The efforts made to resolve constraints in mitigating school bullying in Public Junior High School throughout Berbah District consists of 1) Civic Education Teachers give deep understanding about school bullying; 2) Give learning development to students who implement school bullying; 3) Utilize printed media as support facilities in learning; 4) Firm action against students who drive motorcycle to school; 5) Collaboration with BK Teacher in overcome school bullying.
