THE PERCEPTION OF THE TEACHERS FOR PANCASILA AND CIVIC EDUCATION IN STATE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS (SMP) AT SLEMAN REGENCY, ABOUT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF VALUE EDUCATION APPROACH
Abstract
This research aims to know the perception of the teachers for Pancasila (Indonesian national principle) and Civic Education in State Junior High Schools (SMP) at Sleman Regency, about the implementation of value education approach. This research was applied in five Junior High Schools, those were SMP Negeri 1 Sleman, SMP Negeri 2 Sleman, SMP Negeri 3 Sleman, SMP Negeri 4 Sleman, and SMP Negeri 5 Sleman.
This research was descriptive research using qualitative approach. To select the subjects, this research uses purposive technique. The subject of this research were teachers of Pancasila (Indonesian national principle) and Civic Education in State Junior High Schools (SMP) located at Sleman Regency. The data were collected by using documentation and interview technique. The data validation technique used in this research was cross-checking technique. The data analysis in this research consists of data collecting, data reduction, and data conclusion.
This research results four points: 1) teachers’ perception in applying the value education approach through direct instruction was implemented by considering the characteristics of their students; 2) teachers’ perception of value aducation approach through observation was applied by using picture and video playing; 3) teachers’ perception of value education approach through participation and guided action, have not been able to be implemented as dictated specifically on the teaching material; 4) teachers’ perception of value education approach through reflective learning was conducted at the last step of learning process, usually in the form of post-test.
