Abstract
This study aims to investigate: (1) the effect of learning resource availability on Social Studies learning achievements; (2) the effect of students’ learning styles on Social Studies learning achievements; and (3) the effects of the learning resource availability and students’ learning styles on Social Studies learning achievements. The study employed the quantitative method with the correlation approach. It was conducted in April 2016. The research object was students of SMP Negeri 1 Turi with a population comprising 384 students and the sample, consisting of 183 students, was selected by means of proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected by a Likert scale questionnaire. The questionnaire was tried out; the instrument validity was assessed by the product moment correlation and the instrument reliability by Cronbach’s Alpha formula. The analysis assumption tests were tests of normality, linearity, and multicollinearity. The hypothesis testing used regression analysis. The results of the study are as follows: (1) There is a significant positive effect of the learning resource availability on the students’ Social Studies learning achievements in SMP Negeri 1 Turi in the 2015/2016 academic year with a high coefficient of the learning resource availability and if the learning resources are adequate and complete, this affects and makes the students’ Social Studies learning achievements higher; (2) There is a significant positive effect of the students’ learning styles on their Social Studies learning achievements in SMP Negeri 1 Turi in the 2015/2016 academic year with a high coefficient of the learning styles and if the students understand and apply their learning styles, this affects and makes their Social Studies learning achievements higher; (3) There are positive and significant effects of the learning resource availability and the students’ learning styles on their Social Studies learning achievements in SMP Negeri 1 Turi in the 2015/2016 academic year with high coefficients of the learning resource availability and the learning styles and simultaneously if the learning resources are adequate and complete and the students understand and apply their learning styles, these affect and make their Social Studies learning achievements higher.
