EFEKTIVITAS MODEL PEMBELAJARAN JIGSAW DAN CAROSUSEL FEEDBACK TERHADAP KERJA SAMA DAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 2 GAMPING
Abstract
This study aimed to find out: 1) the difference in the cooperation and learning achievement between the students learning through the jigsaw learning model and those learning through the carousel feedback learning model in Social Studies learning, and 2) the effectiveness of the jigsaw and carousel feedback learning model on the students’ cooperation and learning achievement in Social Studies learning.
This was a quasi-experimental study using the pretest-posttest randomized group design. The population comprised all Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Gamping in the 2015/2016 academic year and the sample consisted of Grade VII A as experimental class 1 and Grade VII B as experimental class 2. The sample was selected by means of the random sampling technique. The data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and tests. The questionnaire and test instruments were validated by expert judgment, the normality was tested by Kolmogorov-Smirnov, and the homogeneity was tested by Levene’s test. The data were analyzed by the independent samples t-test, continued with the effect size (d).
The results of the study showed that: 1) there was a significant difference in the cooperation between the students learning through the jigsaw learning model, indicated by the results of the t-test with tobserved=2.652>ttable=2.005 at a significance level of 5%, and in the learning achievement, indicated by the results of the t-test with tobserved=2.385>ttable=2.005 at a significance level of 5%, and those learning through the carousel feedback learning model in Social Studies learning. 2) The magnitude of the effect size of the jigsaw learning model on the students’ cooperation was 1.288 (d>0.8)/a big effect. The magnitude of the effect size of the carousel learning model on the students’ learning achievement was 1.143 (d>0.8)/a big effect. This indicated that the jigsaw learning model had a bigger effect on the students’ cooperation and learning achievement. Therefore, the jigsaw learning model was effective on the students’ cooperation and learning achievement in Social Studies learning in Grade VII of SMP Negeri 2 Gamping.
