KEEFEKTIFAN STRATEGI JIGSAW II TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN PADA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 5 SLEMAN
Abstract
The research aims to (1) determine the significant differences reading
comprehension ability between students who had reading comprehension learning by
using Jigsaw II strategy and students who had learning without using Jigsaw II
strategy of VII grade SMP Negeri 5 Sleman students , (2) determine the effectiveness
of the jigsaw II strategy in reading comprehension strategy on VIII grade SMP Negeri
5 Sleman students.
This research was an experimental research. The study design that is used
is pretest-posttest control group. The population in this study were students of VIII
grade SMP Negeri 5 Sleman. The sampling uses random sampling technique with the
result that class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII B as the control class.
The data were collected by pretest and posttest which were given to the experimental
class and control class. Validity that is used was content validity and construct
validity. Content validity is done by expert judgment. Construct validity is done with
the help of iteman program. Instrument reliability test is done by using alpha on
iteman program and obtained a value of 0,800. Data analysis technique that is used is
the t-test with a significance level of 5%. The results of the requirements analysis
testing showed that the pretest and posttest scores distributed normally and
homogeny.
The result of research can be concluded as following, first, there is a
significant difference in reading comprehension ability between the class that had
reading comprehension learning by using Jigsaw II strategy and the class that had
reading comprehension learning without using Jigsaw II strategy on VIII grade SMP
Negeri 5 Sleman students. It can be proved by the t-test calculation of posttest on
control class and experimental class obtained t 5,154 with df = 62 and p = 0,000.
Second, Jigsaw II strategy is proved to be effective in reading comprehension
learning in VIII grade SMP Negeri 5 Sleman students. It can be proved by the t-test
calculation of pretest and posttest scores on control class and experimental class that
is obtained t 17.509 with df = 31 and p = 0,000. Gain Score of experimental class is
3.25 and control class is 1.12.
