UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS PERSUASI DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN PROSES DAN MEDIA POSTER PADA SISWA KELAS X SMA N 1 KRETEK BANTUL

Abstract


This study aims at improving persuasive writing skill using process
approach and poster media of tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Kretek. Process
approach is an approach which emphasizes at process aspect. Whereas poster
media is a visual media which has high persuasive character since it displays an
issue (theme).  
This is an action research which employs class X-1 of SMA N 1 Kretek as
the subject. This study was conducted starting at February to March, 2016.  The
persuasive text writing skill was measured based on the persuasive text writing
score achievement percentage. The procedures of conducting the research
consisted of two cycles.  The action implementation of cycle II more emphasized
at improvement aspects which have not been optimal at cycle I. The data
collection techniques of this research were observation, questionnaire, interview,
test,  field notes, and learning activity documentation in the form of photos. The
action achievement was seen from the process and product improvement. The
process achievement was assessed from the improvement of the students’
enthusiasm and attitude toward the learning whereas the product achievement was
assessed from the score of the students’ persuasive text writing.
The result of the research shows that the learning using process approach
and poster media can improve the students’ understanding in persuasive  text
writing. The process achievement can be seen from the increasing of students’
enthusiasm and attitude toward the learning. The improvement of persuasive text
writing skill result can be seen from the students’ score test in pre-action step with
average score 49,3, cycle I with average score 67,5 and cycle II with average
score 86,5. The score improvement of persuasive text writing skill from pre-action
to cycle I is 18,2 and the score improvement from cycle I to cycle II is 19. From
the qualitative frequency score, it can be seen that the students’ score in each cycle
improves well. Hence, it can be concluded that using process approach and poster
media can improve the students’ persuasive writing skill of class X-1 of SMA N 1
Kretek.
