Abstract

This research  purposes to know the difference between short story writing skills of
students who follow the learning process by using Think-Talk-Write model with learners who
follow the learning process without using the  Think-Talk Write  model, and to prove the
effectiveness of the implementation of Think-Talk-Write model in learning process  to write
short story on students grade 10th in SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali, Jawa Tengah.

This research was an experimental study with a pretest-posttest group design. There
are two variables that required  in this research; those are independent variable in the form of
Think-Talk-Write  model and the dependent variable in  short story writing skill. The
populations in this study were all tenth grade sudents of SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali, Jawa
Tengah. The samples used in this research were two classes, with distribution one class as a
control group and the other class as experimental group. The sampling technique used was
cluster random sampling technique. According to cluster random sampling technique gained
class X-6 as experimental group, and class X-9 as control group. The data submitted
technique use test method, that as short story writing test. The data analysis technique used  is
pretest and posttest with t-test.

The result in this study were; there are significant differences about  short story
writing skill between students who followed the learning process with  Think-Talk-Write
model with students who followed learning process without using Think-Talk-Write model.
The result was proven by the result t-test in pretest score and posttest of experimental group
gained t-calculation 13,356 with df (degree of freedom) = 31 and the value P = 0,000.  Based
on the result t-test showed that Think-Talk-Write model is effectively applied in the learning
to write short story, due to P < 0,005 = significant.
