PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS DESKRIPSI MELALUI PENERAPAN STRATEGI RAFT (ROLE-AUDIENCE-FORMAT-TOPIC) PADA SISWA KELAS X SMAN 1 KRETEK
Abstract
The aim of the research was to improve description text writing skill
through RAFT (Role-Audience-Format-Topic) strategy for class X students of
SMAN 1 Kretek. This research belongs to the Classroom Action Research (CAR).
The subjects of the research were students of class X3 SMAN 1 Kretek which was
consist of 30 students.
This research consist of two cycles. Each cycle consist of four steps,
namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data collection techniques that
used in this research was observation, field notes, questionnaires, interviews, test,
and photo documentation. The research instruments used include observation
sheet, field notes, questionnaires, assessment sheet ability to wtite text
descriptions, interviews, and photo documentation. The collected data was
analyzed by qualitative descriptive analysis data technique and supported by
quantitative data.
The result of the research show that the application of the RAFT strategy
can improve the description text writing skill the students of class X3 SMAN 1
Kretek in both process and product. Improvement process could be seen from the
activity of students in the learning process. This is indicated by the improvement
in students attention in learning, anthusiasm, activity, and the learning atmosphere
in the class is more conducive. Improves process gave a positive affect toward
product improvement. Improvement product could be seen from the improvement
score of writing description text from pre treatment until cycle II. The average
score of pre treatment was 65,05, the average of cycle I was 70,17, and the
average of cycle II was 75,23. It can be conclude that the RAFT strategy is one of
writing strategy that can improve the writing skill off description text.
