Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan interaksi sosial siswa berkebutuhan khusus di SD Negeri Jlaban, Sentolo, Kulon Progo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian terdiri atas delapan siswa slow learner dan seorang siswa tunagrahita. Teknik pengumpulan data  melalui  teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan.Uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik.Interaksi sosial berkebutuhan khusus sama dengan siswa rata-rata pada aspek, 1) bergabung dalam kelompok bermain; 2) mencari persahabatan berdasarkan kesamaan umur dan jenis kelamin; 3) menunjukkan sikap menghargai teman; dan 4) berselisih dengan teman. Interaksi sosial siswa berkebutuhan khusus berbeda dengan siswa rata-rata pada aspek, 1) mampu bekerja sama; 2) bersikap terbuka dan senang bercanda; 3) senang mencari perhatian; dan 4) menghadapi kritik dan kegagalan.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the special need student’s social interaction in SD Negeri Jlaban, Sentolo, Kulon Progo. The type of this research was qualitative descriptive. The subjects of this research were eight slow learner students and a mental retarded student. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interview, and documentation. Data were analyzed by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Validity test of the data in this study used triangulation technique and source. Special need student’s social interaction is same with average students in some aspects, 1) joining the peer group; 2) make a friend base onthe same age and gender; 3) appreciative to other students; and 4) make mischief with friends. The social interaction of special need students that different with average students were in some aspects, 1) ability to be cooperative; 2) being open and have sense of humor; 3) look for attention; and 4) face the the critics and failure.
