Abstract

Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning (PBL), Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah, Soal Cerita Matematika

Abstract

This research aims at determining the effect of applying Problem Based Learning toward  problem solving skills of the mathematic in the fourth grade at SD Model Sleman Yogyakarta. This research was Quasi Experimental research with Untreated Control Group Design with Dependent Pretest and Posttest. The subject were the fourth grade at SD Model Sleman Yogyakarta that consisting of experiment class with twenty five students and control class with twenty four students. The research object was the problem solving skills of mathematic. The instruments of the research were essay test and observation sheet. The instrument validity were conducted by expert judgment and empiric validations. The techniquesdata analysis was the independent t-test which previously known by the normality and homogeneity data. The average pretest score of experiment class was 66,00 and posttest score was 83,54, while the average pretest score of control class was 69,53 and posttest score was 77,42. There were supported by the gain test that showed the experiment class of 0,51 in the medium category and the control class of 0,25 in the low category. The result of research shows that there is an effect of applying Problem Based Learning model toward the problem solving skills of the mathematic.

Keywords: problem based learning, problem solving skill of mathematic
