PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA BASAL READER SERIES UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENGUASAAN VOCABULARY

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan media pembelajaran basal reader series yang layan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan vocabulary siswa kelas IV SD N 1 Sekarsuli, dan (2) mengetahui efektivitas media basal reader series terhadap penguasaan vocabulary siswa kelas IV SD N 1 Sekarsuli. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian pengembangan (R&D). Subjek penelitian adalah siswa dan guru kelas IV SD N 1 Sekarsuli dan SD Ngentak. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan instrumen wawancara, validasi produk, angket respon guru dan siswa dan tes penguasaan vocabulary siswa. Hasil penelitian berupa media pembelajaran basal reader series. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media tersebut layak menurut ahli dengan kriteria “Baik”. Hasil Uji coba menunjukkan bahwa media efektif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan vocabulary siswa. Hal ini didasarkan uji coba lapangan operasional, gain score kelompok eksperimen (0,75) lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol (0,54) yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol.

Abstract

The study aims to: 1) produce a basal reader series to improve student’s vocabulary, and 2) determine the effectiveness of the basal reader series to enhance student’s vocabulary. This research was included in the research and development design (R&D). The subjects were teachers and students of fourth grade of SD N 1 Sekarsuli and SD Ngentak. The data were collected by using interview guidelines, product validation, questionnaire of teachers and students responses, and vocabulary test. The result of this study are a basal reader series. The result of expert assesment show that basal reader series id feasible according to expert with category rating “Good”. The result of field tryout shows that basal reader series is effective to enhance student’s vocabulary understanding. It based on the result obtained in the operational field trials. Experiment class obtained higher gain score (0,75) than control class (0,54) which means there are a significant difference on vocabulary understanding between experiment class and control class.
