PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN MELALUI METODE KWL PADA SISWA KELAS V

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V SD Negeri 1 Kertosari Temanggung melalui penggunaan metode Know-Want to Know-Learned (KWL). Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan secara kolaboratif bersama guru dengan model Kemmis & McTaggart. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V yang terdiri dari 23 siswa laki-laki dan 15 siswa perempuan. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan tes objektif, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode Know-Want to Know-Learned (KWL) dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa. Jumlah siswa yang mencapai KKM pada tes pratindakan sebesar 31,57%, siklus I sebesar 57,89%, dan siklus II sebesar 84,21%, sedangkan nilai rerata tes pratindakan 69,26, siklus I 75,47, siklus II 81,84 yang merupakan bukti keberhasilan produk. Keberhasilan proses dapat dilihat dari keaktifan dan antusias siswa yang meningkat saat mengikuti pembelajaran, siswa sudah berani aktif dalam bertanya dan menyampaikan pendapat maupun berperan aktif dalam kegiatan diskusi kelompok.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the learning process and the skills of reading comprehension for the 5th grade students in Kertosari Elementary School District Temanggung through Know-Want to Know-Learned (KWL) learning method implementation. The research was a Class Action Research which was implemented collaboratively between teacher and researcher by using Kemmis & McTaggart model. The subject of the research were students of 5th grade students in Kertosari Elementary School District Temanggung consisting of 23 male students and 15 female students. Data was collected by using objective methods, observation, tests and documentation. The results shows that the use of Know-Want to Know-Learned (KWL) method can improve the skills of reading comprehension for the 5th grade students in Kertosari Elementary School District Temanggung. The number of students who achieved the standard score on pre test was 31.57%, on cycle I was 57,89%, and on cycle II was 84,21%, while the average value of pre test was 69.26, of cycle I was 75.47,of cycle II was 81.84 which was a proof of the success of the product. The success of the process could be seen from the liveliness and enthusiasm that increased during learning process, students already dared to ask and give opinions actively and be more active in group discussion.
