PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS NASKAH DRAMA DENGAN STRATEGI BUKU BERGAMBAR MINIM KATA SISWA KELAS XI IPA 2 SMA NEGERI 1 IMOGIRI, BANTUL

Abstract


This research aimed to improve students’ drama script writing ability of XI
science 2 class, in SMAN 1 Imogiri,  Bantul using limited words picture book
strategy.
This research was an action research study. The research design used Kemmis
and McTaggart model consisted of two cycles. The research procedures in each cycle
included planning, action, observing, and reflection.  The subject of the study was 27
students of XI science 2 class in SMAN 1 Imogiri. The data instruments were in the
form of questionnaire, field note, and observation checklist. The data analysis
technique was qualitative data analysis consisted of process data analysis and
outcome data analysis.
The results of the study showed that the drama script writing activities using
limited words picture book strategy could improve the students’ writing ability of XI
science 2 class in SMAN 1 Imogiri, Bantul. The improvements could be seen from
two aspects that were the improvements in learning process and the improvements of
the learning outcome. The improvements of  the learning process were indicated by
the students’ enthusiasm, students’ attention toward the learning activities, students’
activeness in questioning, answering, and  doing the tasks, and the punctuality in
submitting the tasks.  Meanwhile the improvements of the learning outcome were
shown by score improvement before and after the action. The students’ mean score
before the action was 57,90 in which one  out of 27 students could accomplish the
passing score. The students’ mean score after cycle 1 was 73,11 in which 12 students
could accomplish the passing score. After the cycle 2 the students’ writing ability
increased again shown by the improvement of the mean score, 84,52, in which 22
students could accomplish the passing score.
