KEEFEKTIFAN PENGGUNAAN STRATEGI ROLE-AUDIENCE-FORMAT-TOPIC (RAFT) DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MENYUSUN TEKS EKSPLANASI PADA SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 15 YOGYAKARTA

Abstract


The aim of this research is to prove the difference of ability in arranging
explanation text between the students following the learning using a Role-Audience-
Format-Topic (RAFT) and the students following the learning without RAFT
strategy. Beside, this research is also aimed to test the effectiveness of RAFT strategy
in the learning of arranging explanation text to the students of SMP Negeri 15
Yogyakarta class VII.
The research design used is a quasi experiment with control group pretest-
posttest design. There are two variables in this research, they are independent
research in the form of  RAFT strategy and dependent variable in the form of the
ability of arranging explanation text. The population of this research is the students of
SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta class VII. The sample is taken by using cluster random
sampling, there is class VII C as the group experiment and VII D as control group.
The data collecting technique is using a test of arranging explanation text. The
instrument validity used is content validity with expert judgement.
The conclusions of this research are follows. First, there is a significance
difference in the ability in arranging an explanation text between the students
following the learning using RAFT strategy and the students following the learning
without RAFT strategy in SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta class VII. The difference can
be known from the result of test-t final score experiment group and control group is
got p as 0,001 so that p < significance level 0,05 means significance. Second, it is
proved that RAFT strategy is effective used in the study of arranging explanation text
to the students of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta class VII. The effectiveness of this
RAFT strategy can be known from the result score of test-t pre-test and post-test
experiment group is got p as 0,000 so that p < significance level 0,05 means
significance. Gain score of experiment group is higher than control group, it is 8,79.
