KEEFEKTIFAN PENGGUNAAN MEDIA VIDEO PENDEK PAPERMOON PUPPET THEATRE DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MENULIS CERITA PENDEK PADA SISWA KELAS X MAN 2 YOGYAKARTA

Abstract


This research is aimed to know the significant distinction between the students
who followed  the learning about short stories writing using the short video of
Papermoon Puppet Theatre, and those who did not use the video. This research is
also aimed to examine the effectiveness of Papermoon Puppet Theatre short video as
the media on learning about short stories writing among the students in Class X of
MAN 2 Yogyakarta.
This research employed quantitative approach of which the experimental one
as the type. The research design used is control group pre-test protest one. There are
two variables in the research: independent variable, the use of Papermoon Puppet
Theatre short video and dependent variable, the students’ ability to write short stories.
The research population is the whole students in Class X of MAN 2 Yogyakarta. The
data taking technique used is the cluster random sampling one. The research resulted
on  the Class X MIPA 2 as the controlling group and Class X MIPA 3 as the
experimental group. The data collecting used is a test which consists of two sessions:
the  pre-test  and  post-test  of writing the short stories. The normality test results
showed that the variants of data of this research are homogeneous.  
The calculation of t-test on post-test  score from the experimental group and
the controlling group resulted on 3.013 as the t count with db-46 taken from the p
value of 0.004. The p value is smaller than 5% (p< 0.05). The result of t-test showed
that there is a significant distinction between the experimental group which used the
Papermoon Puppet Theatre short video in learning short stories writing and the
controlling group which did not used the video. The calculation of t-test on post-test
score from the experimental group and the controlling group resulted on 14.471 as the
t count with db 23 taken from the p value of 0.000. The pre-test and post-test of the
controlling group resulted on 8.798 as the t count with db 23 and the p value of 0.000.
It shows that the Papermoon Puppet Theatre short video as the learning media is
effective to use in learning short story writing among the students in Class X of MAN
2 Yogyakarta.
