THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE MIND MAPPING IN THE LEARNING OF GERMAN LANGUAGE WRITING SKILLS STUDENTS GRADE X SMAN 1 PALANGKA RAYA

Abstract


This research aims to determine (1) the differences in learning achievement on German language writing skills of the IBBU class X SMA Negeri 1 Palangkaraya students among who are taught using Mind Map and taught using conventional methods,(2) the effectiveness of using Mind Map method in German language writing skills. The type of this research is a quasi-experiment. The population in this research are all students in grade X IBBU SMA Negeri 1 Palangka Raya which amounts to 43 students. The sampling technique is performed with the Simple Random Sampling technique, the sample is chosen by lottery. Based on the sampling, it is obtained that class IBBU (Language and Culture Program) 1 (21 students) as the experimental class and X IBBU 2 (22 students) as the control class. The data is acquired from the pre-test scores and post-test scores of the German language writing skills. This research has 2 variables those are the use of the Mind Map method as the free variable and the German language writing skills as the bound variable. The validity test uses the content validity and the construct validity. From the calculation, it is acquired that value  rarithmetic 0,845 > rtable 0,666. Therefore, the instrument is revealed as valid. The data analysis result uses T-Test determines that tarichmatic (3,725) is higher than ttable (2,021), at the significant degree α = 0,5. It indicates that there are significant differences on the German language writing skills achievement between the experimental class and the control class. The effectiveness degree is 9,1%. The final average value of the experimental class is 33,143 higher than the control class of 31,773. It determines that the use of the Mind Map method is effective in German language writing skills.
