THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PICTURE WORD-CARDS IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING GERMAN WRITING SKILLS IN SMA NEGERI 4 MAGELANG

Abstract


This study aims to knows (1) the difference of the accomplishment of learning writing skills

of German in SMA Negeri 4 Magelang between taught using picture word-cards and which taught by using  conventional media (2) the effectiveness of picture word-cards in the teaching and learning German writing skills in SMA Negeri 4 Magelang. This research is a quasi experimental. The design of this research is pre- and post-test control group design. The population of this research is the entire learners class XI SMA Negeri 4 Magelang as much as 205 learners. The sampling technique in the study using a simple random sampling. Based on the sample of sampling, retrieved the class XI IPA 4 (by 21 students) as an experimental class, and the class XI IPA 1 (by 20 students) as the control class. Data obtained through a score of pre- and post-test writing skills language of Germany. Validity in this study using content validity and constructs validity. Data were analyzed using t-test analysis. The results showed that (1) the value of t count 3,577 greater than t table 2,021, at significance level α =

0.05,this explains that there is a difference in a positive and significant accomplishment of learning writing skills of language Germany in SMA Negeri 4 Magelang between taught using picture word- cards and which taught by using conventional media (2) the weight of the effectiveness of 8.7%. The end of the average value of the experiment class 77.05 greater than control class 71.65. Thus it can be  concluded that the picture word-cards in German writing skills learning in SMA Negeri 4 Magelang is more effective than conventional media.
