AN ATTEMPT TO INCREASE GERMAN LISTENING IN CLASS XII IPA AT SMA N 7 YOGYAKARTA ACADEM

Abstract


This study aims to improve German listening skills of the students in the class XII IPA at SMAN 7 Yogyakarta through audio and audiovisual media.
This research is a classroom action research. The strategy applied is determined collaboratively by teachers, researchers and learners. The research subjects are the students of class XII IPA at SMAN 7 Yogyakarta. The research was conducted in two cycles, and each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation and reflection. First cycle reached by using audio media, while the second cycle of the audio-visual media. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews, field notes, questionnaires and exercises. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative techniques.  The results showed that the use of audio and audiovisual media provide positive change in accordance with the indicators of success of the study. Improved learning outcomes indicated from increased listening exercise. Based on the reflexion result, each cycle shows that it has tendency to increase in gaining mark. Improving the quality of the learning process can be seen from the active learners in learning and following the change in better perception. Thus, listening skills German language class XII science students has increased in terms of both process and outcome after given action.
