THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PREZI MULTIMEDIA IN THE LEARNING OF SPEAKING IN GERMAN AMONG THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 1 OF MUNTILAN MAGELANG

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out: (1) the difference of speaking in German between the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan Magelang who are taught using Prezi multimedia and those who are taught using conventional media, (2) the effectiveness of the use of Prezi multimedia in the learning of speaking in German among the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan Magelang. This research was a quasi-experimental study with pre- post-test control group design. The study group of this research was all of eleventh grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan Magelang, there was 255 students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. It involved class XI IPA 4 (32 students) as the experimental group and class XI IPA 1 (31 students) as the control group. The validity used was content and construct validity. The data analysis used in this research was t-test. The result of the research showed that the t-result (2,267) was greater than the t-table (1,999) with significance level 0.05 and db = 63. It means that there was a difference of speaking in German between the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan Magelang who are taught using Prezi multimedia and those who are taught using conventional media. The effectiveness value was 8.9%. The average value of the post-test experimental group (12,000) was greater than the average value of the post-test control group (11,242). In conclusion, the use of Prezi multimedia in the learning of speaking in German among the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 of Muntilan Magelang was more effective than the conventional media.
