THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SONGS IN THE TEACHING GERMAN SPEAKING SKILLS AMONG GRADE STUDENT X STUDENTS IN MADRASAH ALIYAH NEGERI PURWOREJO

Abstract


This study aimed to determine effectivess of using song media in the learning of speaking skill in German languange students class X Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Purworejo. This study is a quasi experiment study consists of two research variables, namely song media as the independent variable and the German speaking skills as the dependent variable. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The data obtained in the study was taken from German language speaking skills scores of students in the pre-test and post-test. The validity of the instrument were content validity and construct validity while the reliability was calculated using the KR.20 formula. Data were analyzed using t-test. The results of this study showed that tobtained greater than ttable (tobtained > ttable ), with significance level α = 0.05. The average value of the post-test experimental group was 10,87, while the average value of post-test control group was 9,53. The weight of the effectiveness was 14,36%. It can be concluded that the use of song media in the learning of speaking skill in German languange students class X Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Purworejo is more effective than conventional media.
