PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN KINDERROMAN JUTTA RICHTER’S “HINTER DEM BAHNHOF LIEGT DAS MEER”: DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGYCAL ANALYSIS BY ERIK ERIKSON

Abstract


This research aimed to describe the development of personality of the main character in Kinderroman Hinter dem Bahnhof liegt das Meer through developmental psychology analysis by Erik Erikson. This research was conduct by descriptive qualitative technique and using personality developmenttheoryby Erik Erikson. Source of data in this research is Kinderroman Hinter dem Bahnhof liegt das Meer by Jutta Richter, third printing published by Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag in 2001, consists of 92 pages. Data were obtained through the technique of reading notes. The validity of data is obtained by semantic validity. Reliability used is the realibility of  intrarater dan interrater. The results of the research showed that Neuner is a 9 years old bo. Based on Erik Erikson’s eight-stage human age theory, Neuner belongs to the stage of school age. At this stage Neuner experienced psychosocial crisis of persistence versus inferiority. But Neuner can develop his competence and ability.Neuner was able to develophimself through psychosocial device in formfriendship and teamwork insolving problems. The ritualization that occurs on Neuner ismoredominant than his ritualism. This show that Neuner is an persistence figure and through his developmental phase of school age with a positive successfull.
