Abstract

Wireless computer network at Ma'arif 1 Wates Vocational High School need a requirement and performance analysis in accordance to Permendiknas No. 40 of 2008 because there are problems that interfere teaching and learning activities. This research aims to determine: (1) network infrastructure, (2) network requirements, (3) network performance, and (4) proposed network improvement. This research uses quasi-experimental method that examines the performance of wireless computer network at Ma'arif 1 Wates Vocational High School on ideal performance. The results showed that: (1) the network consists of 6 wireless access points, (2) network requirements have not met Permendiknas No. 40 of 2008, (3) there are differences in performance throughput and jitter parameters on the ideal performance, but there are no significant differences in bandwidth parameters, delay, and packet loss. Quality of Service shows a good Delay, good Jitter, and good packet loss with a QoS value of 66.67% or less satisfactory, (4) suggested network improvements by adding repeaters, proxy servers and firewalls with user and bandwidth management.
