WEBOMETRICS RANKING FOR UNIVERSITIES IN INDONESIA USING ENTROPY WEIGHTING METHOD AND PROMETHEE RANGKING METHOD

Abstract


This study aimed to: 1) know the mechanism of the university website ranking calculations using Entropy
weighting method and Promethee ranking method, 2) know the ranking method that can be used to predict the next
Webometrics rankings. The object of this study is 30 universities top rankings in Indonesia website ranked by
Webometrics for release in January 2016. Data were collected using the Search Engine Google, Majestic, Google
Scholar, and Scopus. Afterwards data were calculated using LibreOffice Calc program to obtain the calculation
results of Entropy weighting method and Promethee ranking method. The results of university website ranking
were compared with the results of ranking Webometrics release in July 2016 using the Wilcoxon Matched Pairs test
with PSPP program 0.8.5. The results of this research showed that: 1) the calculation mechanisms of universities
website ranking using Entropy weighting method have 5 (five) steps, there are: a) data normalization, b)
calculating the number of data values that have been normalized, c) calculating the entropy for each criterion to -i,
d) calculating the value of e (di) for each criterion, e) calculating the entropy weight and Promethee rangking
method have 7 (seven) steps, there are: a) data normalization, b) calculating the difference evaluation alternative i
with other alternatives, c) calculate the preference of data, d) calculating the aggregate preference function, e)
determining the value of leaving and entering outranking flow, f) calculating the value of net outranking for each
alternative, g) rank all the alternatives, 2) Entropy weighting method and Promethee rangking method can be used
to predict the next Webometrics rankings.
