Abstract

Rice Ear Bug (Leptocorisa oratorius) is a pests insect for rice plants. Rice Ear Bug at the generative stage are the most pests for rice plants. Characteristics of L. oratorius are blackish-brown spots on the ventral lateral side of the body, the body is robust (oval) with membranous wings, the body color varies; green for nymphs, and brown for imago. The male body size is larger than the female, the female body length is between 17.50–18.00 mm and the female body width is between 2.40–3.00 mm while the male body length is between 18.00–19.50 mm and the width is between 1 .95–2.00 mm. The life span of walang sangit reaches 50 - 83 days. Research to study the daily activity pattern of L. oratorius is largely unknown. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to study the daily activities of L. oratorius at the Garden of Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural ScienceYogyakarta State University. This research done by 3 methods, there’s Ad-libitum, Focal sampling and Behavioral sampling, In theAd-libitum method, the overall activity of Leptocorisa oratorius was observed with 3 repetitions, then the Focal sampling method was observed on 4 different Leptocorisa oratorius individuals at 13:00-17:00 WIB and Behavioral sampling was carried out torecord and observe all behavior and record interesting events and patterns of behavior according to observations. Data analyzed by descriptive analysis. The most activity observed was mating with a time of 404 minutes and inactive for 235 minutes. Mating behavior is carried out by organism A and organism B, then behavior at individual C and D was dominated by inactive behavior.
