PHILOLOGY STUDY AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF CORPSE CARING IN THE TEXT BABUL JINAZATI

Abstract


There were seven purposes of this research. It were (1) to explain the inventory of the BJ manuscript, (2) to explain the description of BJ manuscripts and texts, (3)  to transcribe BJ text, (4) to make transliteration of BJ text, (5) make BJ text edits, (6) to translate BJ text, and (7) to explain knowledge about the care of the corpes in BJ text. The method used in this research were modern philology and descriptive method. Semantic validity used as validation. Reliability of intrarater and interrater were used as reliability test. The results of this study were divided into seven sections. Determination of a copy of the manuscript BJ which became the object of research, the manuscript stored in the Library Museum Dewantara Kirti Griya Yogyakarta. The condition of text and BJ text is still good, the writing is still readable, and the number of pages is still complete. The BJ text transcription created by handwriting from Javanese script to Javanese text. Transliteration created by BJ text by transcribing from Javanese script to Latin script. The result of transliteration was found nine words that show typical BJ text. Text was edited by reducing or adding corrupt letters, syllables, and phrases tailored to the prevailing spellings and contexts. The ten corrupt words were written in the critic apparatus. In the BJ text translation, found out there were four words which difficult to translate. Describes and analyzes the six categories of knowledge about mortal care in BJ text.
