UPAYA PENGEMBANGAN PROFESIONALISME GURU OLEH KEPALA SEKOLAH DI KECAMATAN PEDAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perspektif kepala sekolah dasar tentang profesionalisme guru, dan strategi kepemimpinan kepala sekolah untuk mengembangkannya.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu 9 kepala seekolah dasar di SD N Kecamatan Pedan. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara semiterstuktur, observasi non-partisipatif, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) terdapat empat perspektif kepala sekolah yang berbeda tentang profesionalisme guru yaitu (a) guru yang menguasai empat kompetensi dan memiliki sertifikat pendidik, (b) guru yang kompeten mengajar dengan baik meski belum memiliki sertifikat pendidik, (c) guru yang berpendidikan minimal S1, kompeten mengajar dan bersertifikat pendidik, (d) guru yang kompeten mengajar meskipun belum memenuhi berpendidikan S1, dan belum memiliki sertifikat pendidik. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perspektif kepala sekolah tentang profesionalisme guru beragam. Namun demikian, terdapat kesamaan pandangan diantara mereka bahwa profesionalisme guru selalu berkaitan dengan kompetensi mengajar guru. Perspektif ini nampaknya melandasi strategi kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam mengembangkan profesionalisme guru. 2) terdapat beragam strategi kepemimpinan kepala sekolah untuk mengembangkan profesionalisme guru disekolahnya. Strategi ini meliputi (a) keteladanan, terdapat keteladanan sikap dan perilaku, (b) pembinaan guru, terdapat kedisiplinan pembinaan kerja dan waktu, (c) pemotivasian guru, melalui briefing pagi dan penekanan nilai keagamaan, (d) pementoran, secara individu terhadap kepala sekolah dan mendorong pementoran antar guru, (e) supervisi, terdapat supervisi pembelajaran dan manajerial, (f) pengembangan profesionalisme guru secara kontinyu, melalui dorongan kepada guru untuk mengikuti seminar, workshop, kelompok kerja guru dan berbagai jenis pelatihan.

Abstract
This research aims to know : teacher professionalism from principal`s perspective and their leadership strategy to develop it. This is qualitative research. The subjects of this research were 9 elementary school principals in Pedan, Klaten. Data were collected by study documentation, observation, and in-depth interview. The data analysis method in this research uses the qualitative data analysis. The findings show that : 1) the principal`s perspective about teacher professionalism are (a) the teacher must have a good grip of the four competencies and have an educator certificate, (b) teachers are competent in teaching even though they do not have an educator certificate, (c) academic qualified (bachelor), competent in teaching, and have an educator certificate, (d) teacher are competent in teaching even though have not fulfilled their education and do not have an education certificate. Thus it can be concluded that teacher professionalism from principal`s perspective are various. however, there is similarity in their perspective that teacher professionalism always related to the competencies of teaching. This perspective seems to underlie the principal`s leadership strategies in developing teacher professionalism. 2) There are various leadership strategies to improve teacher professionalism in their schools. The strategies are (a) exemplary in attitudes and behaviors, (b) teacher coaching, the discipline of coaching work and time, (c) teacher motivating, through morning briefings and emphasizing religious values. (d) mentoring, individually towards the principal and between teachers. (e) supervision, educational and managerial, (f) continuous development of teacher professionalism by encouraging teachers to attend the workshop, teacher workgroup, and anothers various types of training.
