MENINGKATKAN EMPATI MELALUI TEKNIK EXPRESSIVE WRITING PADA SISWA SMP IT

            Penelitian ini berawal dari permasalahan yang ada di SMPIT Ar Raihan Bantul yaitu siswa kelas VIII empatinya masih minim. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penggunaan metode expressive writing dalam meningkatkan empati siswa SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian metode tindakan kelas. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII sebanyak 31 siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan secara kolaboratif dengan guru BK melalui dua siklus penelitian tindakan. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu skala sikap empati, observasi dan wawancara. Uji validitas instrumen menggunakan validitas isi, melalui expert judgement. Uji reliabilitas instrumen menggunakan formula Alpha Cronbach dengan nilai koefisien 0,914. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode expressive writing dapat meningkatkan empati siswa. Hal tersebut terbukti dengan hasil pra tindakan 74,83, pada siklus I 110,90, dan siklus II 121,81 Hasil tersebut juga didukung dengan hasil observasi dan wawancara dengan siswa dan guru. Selain hasil observasi, berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, yang menyatakan bahwa siswa lebih bisa memahami perasaan dan kondisi orang lain.

Abstract

This research started by problems that exist in SMPIT Ar Raihan Bantul have not been able to regulate emotion well. The aims of this research is to know the use of expressive writing method to improve the ability of empathy student of State Junior High School.This research used classroom action methods which implemented collaboratively by guidance and counseling teachers through two action research cycles. The subjects are 31 students. Data collection methods used scale of empathy, observation and interview. Test validity instrument used validity of contents through expert judgment. Reliability test an instrument used formula Alpha Cronbach 0,914. Technique analysis data used descriptive quantitative. The results of this reseach indicate that the expressive writing method can improve the ability of students' empathy. This is evidenced by the results of the average score of the empathy attitude scale at the pre-action of 74.83, in the first cycle 110.90, and in the second cycle 121.81 The results were also supported by the results of observations and interviews with students and teachers. In addition to the results of observations, based on the results of interviews with teachers and students, which states that students are better able to understand the feelings and conditions of others
