Abstract


This study aims to improve the communication capability and student activity by applying cooperative learning model type snowball throwing in basic networking subject class X TKJ SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman. This study is a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were students of class X TKJ A amounting to 32 students. Research is done in two cycles and each cycle consists of two meetings. Data collection techniques using observation method and documentation. The observation method is by communication capability observation sheets and learning activity observation sheets. The results showed that the application of cooperative learning model type Snowball Throwing in subject of basic networking can improve the communication capability and learning activity of students in each cycle. First cycle, the average percentage of student’s communication skills was 43% and in the second cycle increased to 83%. The average percentage of student’s activity on cycle I was 63% while in cycle II it increased to 77%. Keywords: snowball throwing, basic network subject, communication capability, liveliness
