Abstract

The purpose of this final project is to realize the design of hardware and software component and to know the performance of a Warning System Notification Model on Railway Crossing based on Microcontroller. This tool serves to reduce the rate of accidents in railway crossing and to facilitate the guard and the riders who will pass on it. There are 2 working principle on this prototype, automatic and manual. When sensor 1, sensor 2, sensor 3 and sensor 4 input, it will detect the train and processed on the arduino uno microcontroller to become a decision. Then from arduino uno, arduino uno will make some decisions such as turn on LED, Buzzer, display text on 16x2 LCD, calculate the train speed, arrival time and activate the servo also push button that serves as manual button to control the servo if there is an error system on the automatic prototype. The method in this tool construction is a design-build method that consists of (1) Analysis of needs, (2) Identification of needs, (3) Hardware design, (4) Making tools and (5) Testing tools. Based on the results of tests that have been done can be seen that the performance of Warning System Notification Model on the railway crossing based on Micro controller has functioned well and work 100% as expected, namely the power supply component is stable, ultrasonic sensors can detect the trains, LEDs can be on, buzzer can be sound, manual button can move servo and LCD can display a warning information. Keywords: Model, Arduino Uno, Ultrasonic Sensor, Railway Crossing
