THE ROLE OF KLATEN POLICE FORCES IN OVERCOMING THE NEGATIVE EFFECT OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES THROUGHOUT KLATEN REGENCY

This research has three goals and they are 1) to describe the role of Klaten Police Forces in overcoming the negative effect of alcoholic beverages throughout Klaten Regency, 2) to explain the obstacles faced by the Klaten Police Forces in overcoming the negative effect of alcoholic beverages, and 3) to define the efforts of Klaten Police Forces in overcoming those obstacles.

This research belongs to descriptive research which uses qualitative approach. Here, he uses purposive sampling technique as a method in determining the subject of the research. The subject of the research is the head unit of Samapta Bhayangkara, the team patrol leader of Samapta Bhayangkara, the head unit of regulation, escort, guard and patrol (Turjawali) Samapta Bhayangkara, and one person of investigator Samapta Bhayangkara. The techniques used to collect the data were interview and documentation. Meanwhile, the validation technique used was Cross Check. In analyzing the data, the researcher used inductive analysis technique. The steps in analyzing the data are reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusion.

The result of the research shows that the roles of Klaten Police Forces in overcoming the negative effect of alcoholic beverages in that regency were done through the act of preventive and repressive. The preventive act was done by doing routine patrol in troubled area, socializing to the students and society about the negative effect of alcoholic beverages, approaching the religion’s prominent figure, cooperating and coordinating with Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in doing the raid. Some repressive act done by the police forces were investigating accurately. The preventive obstacles in doing the acts are the inappropriate timeline, having no inventory car to patrol. On the other hands, the repressive obstacles in doing the acts are the low awareness of society about the negative effect of alcoholic beverages, the person who frequently informs the society about the raid, and some other obstacles of socializing to the society. As a way to overcome those problems, the Police Forces of Klaten Regency tries to choose the appropriate timeline, make the report about the need of inventory car to the Head of Province Police (Kapolda), founding the society about the negative effect of alcoholic beverages, doing silent raid, doing preparation before socializing to the society about the negative effect of alcoholic beverages.
