HALLYU: FANATISME REMAJA PADA BUDAYA POP KOREA (Studi tentang Penggemar Hallyu di Kota Yogyakarta)

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku fanatik remaja terhadap budaya populer Korea pada penggemar hallyu di kota Yogyakarta. Hallyu merupakan istilah buatan yang bermakna peningkatan secara signifikan pengaruh budaya populer Korea (Korean pop culture) di seluruh dunia, atau secara singkat mengacu pada globalisasi budaya Korea. Hallyu menyebabkan fenomena demam Korea yang saat ini sedang melanda banyak negara termasuk Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, serta studi kepustakaan.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan perilaku fanatik remaja timbul sebagai akibat dari adanya proses interaksi dengan budaya populer Korea yang merujuk pada komunikasi budaya. Komunikasi budaya terjadi antara penggemar dengan budaya populer Korea menjadikan kelompok penggemar mengembangkan pola perilaku tertentu sebagai wujud kecintaan mereka terhadap budaya populer Korea. Perilaku fanatik remaja penggemar budaya pop Korea di kota Yogyakarta dapat dilihat dari terbentuknya komunitas-komunitas penggemar, budaya konsumsi penggemar, upaya adopsi identitas nilai-nilai budaya Korea yang dilakukan oleh penggemar dan perilaku penggemar yang cenderung Korea Sentris.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the youngsters’ fanatical behavior about the Korean pop culture in Yogyakarta city. Hallyu is a terminological creation stands for the significant enhancement of Korean pop culture influence all over the world, or briefly refers to Korean culture globalization. Hallyu is currently causes the phenomenon of addiction to Korea in the most country including Indonesia. This phenomenon is signed by the appearance of fanatic fans to the popular Korean culture.
This study is conducted on qualitative methodology by doing descriptive analysis. The selection of respondent in this study is done by using purposive sampling technic in which the data are taken from previously specified criterion of respondent. The criterion is youngster fanatic fans of popular Korean culture. The collection of the data are using observation, interview, documentation, and literature study. The data validity is conducted using triangulation and method. The data analysis is conducted using interactive analysis model by Miles and Huberman including data collection, data reduction, presenting the data, and drawing the conclusion.
The result of this study shows that Hallyu wave was firstly happen in the early years of this early millennium in China. The second Hallyu wave began after 2003 and rapidly invaded the surrounding country. Hallyu came to Indonesia in around 2000 preceded by broadcasted Korean dramas in television channel program. In Indonesia, Hallyu wave creates the phenomenon of addiction to Korea later on, including Yogayakarta city. Then Hallyu creates new phenomenon thus, the youngster fanatic behavior to the popular Korean culture. That such behavior appears as the effect of cultural interaction with popular Korean culture in which refers to cultural communication. This cultural communication – fans with popular Korean culture – creates the development of particular behavior pattern of the fans club as the embodiment of their love. The youngster popular Korean culture fans fanatic behavior in Yogyakarta city can be seen from the formation of fans clubs, fans’ consumption culture, the effort of adopting Korean identity, and fans behavior which is inclined Korean centered.The purpose of this study is to know the youngsters’ fanatical behavior about the Korean pop culture in Yogyakarta city.
